01 / Setup

Getting Started

From Telegram to live alerts in about 5 minutes.

1

Open the bot

Search for @WattsonEVBot in Telegram or open t.me/WattsonEVBot. Tap Start.

2

Choose a plan

Select Solo ($5/mo) for full access to all commands, stats and alerts.

3

Complete payment

You'll receive a secure checkout link. After payment your bot is provisioned automatically — takes about 1 minute.

4

Connect your Tesla

Tap Log in with Tesla when prompted and sign in on Tesla's own page — the token is captured automatically. Prefer the manual method? See how to get a refresh token below. Either way, this credential lets the bot read car data only — it cannot control the car.

5

You're live

The bot sends a first status message and alerts begin automatically. Use the keyboard or type commands to query your car anytime.

How to get a Tesla refresh token

Both tools are third-party open-source apps recommended by the TeslaMate FAQ. Full step-by-step for each: see How do I get a Tesla refresh token? in the FAQ below.

FAQ

Why isn't the bot responding to commands?

Check ℹ️ /status to see if MQTT is connected. If not, tap 🔄 /reconnect. If it persists, contact support.

How do I get a Tesla refresh token?

A refresh token is a long-lived credential that lets the bot read your car's data without your password. It cannot control the car and can be revoked at any time from your Tesla account.

📱 iPhone / Mac — Auth App for Tesla

  1. Install Auth App for Tesla from the App Store
  2. Open the app, tap Sign In
  3. Log in with your Tesla account in the in-app browser — this is Tesla's own login page, your password never passes through the app or WattsonBot
  4. Enter your MFA code if prompted
  5. Find the card labeled Refresh Token ("Long-lived") and tap Copy
  6. Paste it into the WattsonBot chat

💻 Windows / Linux / Mac — Tesla Auth

  1. Download the latest release for your OS from Tesla Auth
  2. Run it (macOS/Linux may require allowing it in Security settings)
  3. It opens a browser to Tesla's real login page — sign in, enter MFA if enabled
  4. The final window shows your Access Token and Refresh Token
  5. Copy the Refresh Token
  6. Paste it into the WattsonBot chat

Stuck? Send /support in the bot chat — we'll walk you through it.

How do I change my plan?

Use 💳 /billing to get a billing portal link where you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel.

Why did I get a false drive alert?

Short moves under 300 m are filtered out. If false alerts continue, contact support.

My data seems stale.

Tap 🔄 /reconnect. If the car is asleep, data only updates when it wakes — try opening the Tesla app or starting a drive.

Is my Tesla password stored?

No. WattsonBot only uses your refresh token. Your password is never sent to us. The token can be revoked at any time from your Tesla account.
